I pretty much agree with you on the anti-depressants thing. I'm not a fan of that kind of stuff. There are some people who have some serious chemical imbalances in their brain who need those types of medications, but not everybody out there needs to be put on some sort of mind/mood altering drug. Sometimes I feel like I should be on something to help me cope with stress, but in all reality... life just sucks and ultimately you have to deal with it. Taking a drug to help you not care about what is stressing you out doesn't help you fix what is stressing you out. I pretty much can't stand people who cop out of life by taking stuff like that... but then again, I'm an alcoholic. Who am I to point the finger?

Comment on Halloween is not for Losers by xxabsentxx

Wow, you got really intense and really off track for the whole last minute. haha Completely out of left field with the whole "preggers" rant. Halloween isn't really fun for adults unless have kids or have a costume party to go to. I love decorating my place up, tossing on a costume and handing out candy to kids when they come to trick or treat, but thats about all the "interactivity" there is for me during Halloween. On the rare chance that I might ever have children, I look forward to being able to dress up and take my kid door to door in crazy costumes. What pisses me off about Halloween are the "Christian" families who hand out the damn Chick Publications booklets. Those tiny little black and white comics that preach against the evils of Halloween (and a assortment of other things for all holidays and events). The people who make these things are as ignorant as they come. As a matter of fact... I think I'm going to do a rant about it on the show. If you're going to publish something to "inform" children of what your religion considers "bad", then at least have the respect to Google the damn history of Halloween and get your facts right! Don't make shit up as scare tactics to frighten little kids into going to church! One shows a kid getting hit by a car running out of a haunted house and says he's going to hell "because he died in his sins". I hate these stupid comics...

Okay, that was just great. We definately need to get you on DoucheCast sometime. What you talked about is something I'd love to dive into on our show. I feel pretty strongly about things of the "emotional problems" nature. We make fun of emo kids a lot in our AskAFatDude.com videos, but you make an excellent point about there really being people out there who do have problems and need help. We've got to, got to, got to get you on the show about this. I might even do show prep for this!

I'd really like to write a long comment about this, but at risk of ruining the discussion I'll wait. xxabsentxx@hotmail.com
Let me know if your interested.

Has he ever considered doing a podiobook type thing for his writing? He's got good stuff. Thats how Scott Sigler got his books to be best sellers. I love listening to stories like that. I drive a lot to and from work so I don't have very much time for reading and listening is the next best thing.

Thanks. We'll have to give you a plug, too. Thats what I really feel this whole podcasting thing is about. Users creating their own content and getting it out there to people of similar tastes. I'm sure it'd be nice to have a million listeners, but I'm just as content having a small audience who loves what we do.

Comment on A Rant About Internet Elitism by askafatdude

1 R 1337 n00b.

I, personally, have been involoved in many, many flame wars... each one just as funny as the last. I don't look for them, but just the same as in real life... no matter where you go, there will always be assholes. I've been trying to twart a few un-1337 "elitists" that are regulars in the TPXRadio.com chat who are rude to new people myself. They have a tendancy to be very rude and act better than new people who come to listen. This really aggrivates me, too, because TPXRadio, being an internet radio station, needs all the listeners it can get. It doesn't matter what some random douchebag thinks of new listeners... its not their station. I one day hope to see our show go live on TPXRadio.com and I don't want someone running off my new listeners. If anyone is going to run people off then it should be me. It doesn't matter if its a forum, a chat, or whatever... Let me moderate who can and cannot stay. I'm very intolerant of those kinds of things.

Anyway, before you invest in a different microphone try putting a soft cloth over your mic. I'm not sure what kind of mic you have, but apart from the occasional burst of air it sounds good. Try putting something over the head of the mic to help block it from picking that up. It worked for me. If you have a cell phone bluetooth ear set you can also use that along with a USB Bluetooth adapter on your computer to make a microphone that works fairly well. Thats what I used in the first episode. The last two episodes, though, I've upgraded to a Logitech USB Desktop Microphone... its very nice and not too terribly expensive. Shipping and handling and all I got it for $27 or so on Newegg.com. Its not a replacement for a studio mic and a mixer, but it works very well. Anyway, your audio quality sounds good.

Comment on A Rant About the Music Industry by askafatdude

I listened to your podcasts and checked out your artwork. Very impressive. You've got some amazing talent to be able to draw like that. I'm a big manga/anime fan so I really dig what you've got. Right on with your opinions about music, too. Every artist of any genre deserves a chance even if it isn't what you "normally listen to." I mostly listen to heavy metal. I like a lot of the "scream" bands you don't care for, but I like a lot of less heavy metal bands and quite a few rock bands, too. I'm a firm believer that if I listen to an album and like it that I should go buy it. If I listen to an album and its total crap except for one or two songs then the artist doesn't deserve my money. More often than not bands will throw together albums knowing that there aren't many good songs on it, but since they know one or two songs will get heavy airtime on the radio its worth it to get the cash.

Very good podcast. Maybe sometime you can join us on Skype for an episode of DoucheCast. I love to rant and argue about music so it could get interesting.

Keep casting and keep drawing. You've got some amazing stuff.
